CrashPlan


CrashPlan is installed on all CFA-managed faculty and staff computers to back up the user’s home folder on the computer. CrashPlan will function as long as your computer is connected to the internet.

Check Backup Status

  1. Click on the CrashPlan icon in your menu bar CrashPlan Menu Icon
  2. The displayed window has information about your backup:

    1. The size of the backup set
    2. The status of the backup (backup running, next backup in x minutes, etc.)
    3. If you see an error message, contact CFA IT.

Restore a File

  1. Click on the CrashPlan icon in the menu bar
  2. Click the gear icon and select “Open CrashPlan” from the menu
  3. Enter your uNID@utah.edu as the username, click “Continue”
  4. When redirected to the standard campus login, sign in with your uNID and campus password
  5. Go back to the CrashPlan application once sign in is completeCrashPlan application window
  6. Click “Restore Files”
  7. Locate and select the file or files you want to restore
    • Note that if you need to restore a file that you deleted, you will want to click the ellipsis and select “Include deleted files”CrashPlan Restore Files interface
